I just finished this painting on silk, it was interesting to see how it looked as a finished piece.

Elzy: My name is Lubna Zahid (Elzy), and I am a silk and watercolor artist. After receiving my bachelors in Fine Arts I discovered the medium of dyed silk in 1998 and I was immediately enamored with its vibrant colors and luminous texture. I learned fabric dyeing and surface designing through self study, seminars, and workshops. I design silk pieces from my studio. Using silk as my canvas I meticulously design each piece individually and paint it like a watercolor painting using french dyes, which I then steam set into the silk fibers. This allows for the pieces to be worn and washed, all the while maintaining their vibrant hues and soft silky texture.
